Over the phone, in class or both
Ciné-Langue offers English and French language programs for every level, by phone, in class or using a combination of the two.
We focus on studying the dialogues in high-quality films, in combination with more traditional learning activities – grammar lessons, written exercises, original interactive games developed by Ciné-Langue (Challenge and Spoken Scrabble) – all at prices far more affordable than the language schools downtown.
Ciné-Langue in action !
Ciné-Langue activities have two main goals:
To make it fun and exciting to learn a language.
We achieve this using the following activities:
Intensive vocabulary study based on film dialogues.
Question-answer sessions based on key scenes in the selected film.
Effective use of subtitles and supervised reading.
Grammar games related to the selected film.
Speaking Scrabble (grammar and vocabulary acquisition game related to the selected film).
Film jewels: Pivotal scenes from over 400 films in the Ciné-Langue film bank. Study and discussion: What makes these jewels so exceptional?
COURSES IN OUR STUDIO
The activities take place primarily in our studio. Ciné Langue is right in Montréal, in Rosemont – Petite Patrie. Close to the Plateau Mont-Royal, Villeray, Ahuntsic, Mile-end…
At Ciné-Langue, the telephone is an ideal tool for conversation and grammar study. It is often used to complement courses and may, in some circumstances, be used as the principal method of communication.
What people are saying about Ciné-Langue
Benoit Bolduc, the founder of Ciné-langue, is an extraordinary teacher. I studied English with him for nearly two years. His passion for teaching combined with a personalized selection of films transformed learning English into a real life experience. With Benoit, I not only improved my English, but I learned tools that are helping me stretch my own limits. Ciné-langue is a unique concept that inspired me and continues to enrich my life.
After studying English at Ciné-Langue, I decided to put my 16-year-old son, Olivier, into Mr. Bolduc’s hands for French and English. I saw a clear improvement in his academic performance after just two months. Olivier was comfortable with the instructor and he trusted him. That is what explains his progress in both English and French.
This is my second time studying at Ciné-Langue. The film-based method is still as exciting as the first time, with even more focused listening, pronunciation and expression exercises. For me the old language-learning methods are completely finished: I’m totally converted to Ciné-Langue.
Thanks to Ciné-Langue, I raised my academic average in English from 60% to 80% in just three months. Since then, everything has been going much better. My teacher didn’t perform miracles; he simply made me understand that my English courses were important and, thanks to his theoretical explanations, grammar exercises and the films he uses as teaching tools, he helped me do far better in my courses than I thought possible.
My English lessons at Ciné-Langue have given me a lot; I’ve mastered verb tenses – even the present perfect! The film-based method invented by Ciné-Langue is highly effective, but it was more than just that: the films we watched, the stories we explored were mostly about men and women who rise above adversity. This type of film creates a very favourable atmosphere for learning. It is as if the characters themselves were helping us succeed.
