Chef is a delicious comedy from acclaimed director Jon Favreau. When chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in a creative rut, he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, chef Carl Casper goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen – and zest for life and love.
A movie full of heartfelt emotions; an intelligent comedy staging the relation between a father who gets gradually closer to a son he has neglected since his divorce. Watching these two you feel like wanting to be both characters at the same time so much they are real and caring for one another. This movie vibrates with authentic bonds between all the protagonists. They’re all warmhearted, sincere and intense. I watched this movie three times in a row so much I wanted to bask in such a palpable atmosphere of rich human emotions.
