Last Love pleased me greatly as it’s filled with sensitivity, realism and intelligence. Right off the bat we’re pulled into Mathew (eighty years old), and Pauline ( hardly 25 )’s tender love-friendship story. We’re then led to slow meanderings through Mathew’s life after he lost his wife. He then closed himself off from the world, feeling quite hopeless until a young social dancer, opens up a crack and lets light back into his life. Though she has to navigate on rough sea : Mathew has a son and a daughter who don’t see eye to eye with him regarding his new young friend, Pauline will manage to get close to Mathew’s son in a quite unexpected way. Anyone who likes a less conventional love story will adore this film.
